What we do with your precious donation:

The Make A Child Smile Organization offers limited financial assistance and support to selected MACS featured children (when needed) in the following way:

To help pay for most medical related bills not covered by Insurance. This applies to Hospitals, Clinics, Doctors, Pharmacy and medically necessary Equipment (wheelchair, c-pap machines, etc..).

For Funeral expenses when a child passed away (services, casket, headstone, grave marker, urn, etc?)

Your donation also helps with our Organization's Administrative costs so we can keep our doors (and hearts) open.

Donation of $$ to a specific child:
Unfortunately we do not accept donations that need to be forwarded to a specific child. If you wish to send money to a specific MACS kid, please send it directly to the child's mailbox address.

Our financial aid rules are extremely strict. Donations made to the MACS Organization in general, are dispersed according to the true need of a family for financial aid. All funds leaving MACS need to be documented with the reason why it's being dispersed. We need to know that the money is going towards something related to the child's illness (i.e. medical equipment, doctor, clinic, hospital, pharmacy, etc..). Funds are NEVER sent directly to the family, only to the establishment where a bill needs to be paid off.

This is the reason why we cannot forward your donation to a family. We need proof that the money will be used for something related to the child's medical condition or funeral expenses

Donation of goods to MACS or the kids (toys, clothes, scrapbooking supplies, electronics, HAIR, etc...):
Unfortunately we do not accept donations of goods due to a lack of storage space and personnel to sort and distribute them.

If you wish to send something to a MACS child, please mail it directly to the featured child's mailing address.

You may also hold an eBay Auction by joining Mission Fish and sell your goods to benefit the Make A Child Smile Organization.

As for donating HAIR, you need to contact specific Organizations that will accept hair donations, such as www.locksoflove.org and www.wigsforkids.org.

"In Memory/In Honor" donations:
If you wish to make a donation "In Memory/In Honor" of someone, after you donate via PayPal, please go to the Contact Us page and send us a note with your name, the name of the person you donated "In Memory/In Honor" of, and an address where we can mail a postcard to (usually the family of the deceased/honored).

Your name listed on the Donors page:
Your name will be listed on our Donors page once we process your donation. If you'd rather not have your name listed or would like it removed, please Contact Us.

Tax receipts:
If you have donated via PayPal, then make sure you keep the email confirmation sent by PayPal (or log in to your PayPal account and click on "History" to locate them and print). That is your receipt for your tax records!

If you made check donations by mail, and it totaled more than $250 for the previous calendar year, we will mail a receipt back to you around January/February.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) doesn't require receipts for donations under $250.
